The PCAP South-Western Area addresses an area north to the Tambo Shire, west to the South Australian border, south to the New South Wales border and east to Miles, Tara and Inglewood.

An Area Coordinator, based in Charleville, administers the PCAP South-Western Area.  The Area Coordinator is the executive officer to the management committee, chaired by a member of the committee, duly elected, and consisting of representatives of the Department of Education and Training, Toowoomba Catholic Education Commission, Queensland Teachers' Union, Queensland Independent Education Union, Isolated Children's Parents' Association, Queensland Council of Parents' and Citizens' Association, Queensland Council of Parents’ and Friends’ Association, and any other groups with an interest in the education of the isolated child.  Each local area is also represented on the committee, with community members attending from; Augathella, Balonne, Charleville, Cunnamulla, Inglewood, Mitchell, Murilla, Quilpie, Roma, Schools of Distance Education, Tara, Taroom, Thargomindah and Waggamba.

The Area Committee, comprising of a plethora of representation from a wide variety of interest groups and fourteen Local Advisory Committees, meets three times a year and is responsible for formulation of policies and programs designed to meet the needs and priorities of the area.  Supporting and administrating projects sponsored through the program, disbursing funds for area initiatives, disseminating information supportive of the Program and making recommendations to the PCAP State Council, through the Area Committee, are also responsibilities of this Area Committee.  Venues for meetings are varied to enable the members to observe, first hand, the specific problems relative to each town and district.  This modus operandi also gives local people an insight into how PCAP operates and functions.
